At Yaraka Christian Academy in the Mul Baiyer District of Western Highlands Province, the lessons go beyond textbooks. This International Women’s Day, the newly established school took a meaningful step in teaching its young students the importance of respecting and appreciating the women in their lives.
Through handmade cards, the children—some just beginning their early childhood education—expressed gratitude for their mothers, teachers, sisters, and other influential women. More than just an arts and crafts activity, this was a lesson in values: love, respect, and appreciation.
Principal Pastor Patrick Kuan emphasized the importance of starting these teachings early. “If we teach children from a young age to respect, value, and support women, we are shaping a future where equality and kindness come naturally,” he said. “For boys, these lessons will help them grow into men who uplift and empower the women around them.”
The celebration, joined by the International Organization for Migration, reinforced the school’s commitment to fostering positive social change. By instilling these values early, Yaraka Christian Academy is not just educating students—it’s shaping a future where both girls and boys grow up understanding the true meaning of equality, respect, and appreciation for women.
